Let’s get a couple of things straight
Yes, we do drink wine in Alabama and Bitch is not a bad word. It is an honorary title bestowed upon women who defy stereotype, step outside the proverbial box and generally annoy those individuals who cling to the security of outdated social mores.
I guess you could say we’re a little pissed. We are tired of wine snobs alienating wine novices. We’re fed up with the attitude that Alabama is an ass backward state that wouldn’t know piss water from Petrus.
So we decided to write a book, which led us to start a club and inspired us to launch a website.
Our club, like the setting of the book, orginates in Eufaula, AL. Sarah Burr, the owner of the River City Grill (also featured in the book), is the Eufaula Chapter President. The club meets officially once a month to discuss new wine finds, interesting food pairings and maybe a little wine education. Mostly though, the club meets to fulfill the promise of shared wine - the joy of good company and conversation.
Since the club’s conception, we’ve been approached by women, both here in Alabama and in other states, who’d like to start their own clubs. All that we ask is that you register your club if you intend the use of our name. No fees are involved. For Official Clubs, we’ll even offer suggested agendas, activities and opportunities for your club meetings.
Bottom Line: We’re just two Bama Bitches who love wine. Wine is for everyone, not just the wealthy or the wine connoisseur. And never let anyone tell you that the wine you like is not acceptable. Whether it’s a $5 bottle or a $500 bottle, if you like it, it’s good wine.
